Srinagar, Jan 29: The district Srinagar Carrom Championship commenced Wednesday at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex (SKISC), Srinagar.
The championship is organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Carrom Association in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council and spans two days, concluding on January 30. Competitions are being held across Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories for both boys and girls, adhering to international standards.
The event was officially declared open by Adil Rashid Shah, President of the J&K Carrom Association. He was accompanied by Maqsood Khan, Incharge of SKISC, Arif Sultan Khan, Treasurer of the Jammu and Kashmir Carrom Association, along with other association members and officials, who graced the opening ceremony. The championship is being held under the “My Youth My Pride” initiative by the J&K Sports Council, aiming to engage youth in sports and provide a platform for emerging talent. Around 100 participants have registered and are competing in various categories, making the event highly competitive and engaging.

The J&K Carrom Association expressed its commitment to promoting carrom at the grassroots level and thanked the J&K Sports Council for their support. The championship will continue tomorrow with more exciting matches and the final rounds.
