Srinagar, Jan 28: Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, the Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir, on Tuesday announced that the university will host the All India Inter-University Winter Sports event in Gulmarg on January 30 and 31.
Speaking to the media during a press conference in Srinagar, Prof. Nath said that the Central University of Kashmir is set to organize this significant winter sports event, which is sponsored by the Association of Indian Universities. The event will see participation from 27 universities, comprising a total of 169 individuals, including athletes, coaches, and managers.
“This event will enhance the unique identity of the Central University of Kashmir on a national level, which is why we accepted the invitation extended by the Association of Indian Universities, “he said.
The Vice Chancellor also mentioned that the University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced a Common Entrance Test for postgraduate programs, with the application deadline set for February 1. He highlighted that all nine schools within the university are offering postgraduate programs and encouraged students from Jammu and Kashmir to participate in this examination, which provides opportunities for admission across India. There are 48 central universities, along with several state and private universities, participating in this admission process.
“Students who successfully qualify for this examination will benefit from an incentivization program that includes tuition fee waivers and an annual scheme we are launching. We strongly encourage all graduate students to take part in this examination to secure admissions in Central Universities and other institutions across the country,” he added.
The National Education Policy 2020, as articulated by Prof. Nath, is fundamentally centered on the learner, providing various advantages to students. The policy emphasizes three key areas: facilitating access to higher education, enhancing employment opportunities, and fostering entrepreneurship, all encapsulated in its new motto, “Educate, Enrich, Empower.”
Regarding the university’s infrastructure, the Vice Chancellor of CUK indicated that it is nearing completion. New hostels and academic buildings are anticipated to be finalized within the next two to three years. Furthermore, the university is set to implement nine exemplary academic practices, which will be communicated to faculty and stakeholders in the near future.
