Ganderbal, Jan 11: Marking a significant milestone , the revered Mata Kheerbhawani temple in Ganderbal witnessed an unprecedented influx of over 2.14 lakh devotees throughout the year 2024. This record-breaking turnout highlights the temple’s growing spiritual significance and its draw for devotees from across the nation.
In January 2024, the number of visiting pilgrims was 3,229, in February: 3,837, in March: 14,994, in April: 19,181, in May: 19,409, in June: 70,285, in July: 30,890, in August: 20,550, in September: 10,880, in October: 10,707, in November: 5,450, and in the month of December the number was 4,769.
The temple saw a gradual increase in pilgrim numbers from January, reaching a dramatic peak in June with 70,285 devotees. This surge coincided with the annual festival dedicated to Goddess Ragnya, a major spiritual event celebrated with fervor, drawing thousands of worshipers.
In the latter half of the year, footfall gradually declined, with December recording the lowest attendance of 4,769 devotees, attributed to harsh winter conditions impacting the travel.
The record-breaking turnout reflects the improved infrastructure, better facilities, and enhanced security arrangements around the temple premises. Devotees have lauded these efforts, contributing to a seamless and fulfilling spiritual journey.
Meanwhile Civil Society Tullmullah’s Chief Patron Zahoor Bhat emphasized that the turnout reflects the shrine’s profound spiritual importance.
Manzoor Wani, convenor of Civil Society Tullamulla, urged for better facilities to enhance the pilgrim experience. “Improved road connectivity, expanded parking, upgraded restrooms, and enhanced accommodation are essential to cater to the increasing number of visitors. These developments will not only benefit pilgrims but also boost tourism in the region,” he said.
Shujat Rashid, Chairman of Civil Society Tullamulla, expressed gratitude to district administration Ganderbal for designating Tullamulla as a tourist village.
