New Delhi, Dec 04: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman and former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday released the Hindi version of a book on Jawaharlal Darda at Constitution Club, New Delhi.
He termed Darda as one of the greatest politicians of the Indian subcontinent and a real freedom fighter who devoted his life to the country. The book was released at the Constitutional Club of India where Azad was the chief guest.
Darda popularly known as Babuji, was an Indian freedom fighter and a senior politician. He was the founding editor of the Lokmat group of newspapers. He was a pioneering journalist and a prominent politician of his time.
The former CM said the teachings of Jawaharlal Darda must be followed so that the people live with respect and dignity and share mutual interests irrespective of caste and colour. “The teachings of Mahatma Gandhi should be propagated and invoked as did by Darda. In our times, agreeing to disagree was our guiding principle but disagreeing never meant losing a person or showing hatred towards the person,” he said.
Azad said Darda was a great politician who worked to integrate the nation and strictly followed the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. “Apart from being a politician, Darda was also a true freedom fighter, social activist and a journalist who through his services and writings enlightened the people and nation,” he said.
The DPAP chairman said that being close to him, he knew how sincere and visionary was Darda and how he positively impacted millions of people in the country. “Darda was writing and working to keep the country united and people from all walks of life respected him for his thought process. He was a true Gandhian who devoted his life and energy to spreading and promoting his ideology of humanity,” he said.
According to a DPAP statement, senior journalists, Members of Parliament from INC, BJP, TMS, AAP, BSP, Shiv Sena, NCP, RPI, Forward Block and some independent MPs were among those present on the occasion.
