Ganderbal Jan 06: The Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division Gund launched an extensive snow clearance operation on Monday to restore smooth vehicular movement in the region. The operation started from the main market in Gund and extended to several critical link roads, including Sonamarg Link Road and the Hospital Road in Gund, which had been blocked due to heavy snowfall.
R&B officials confirmed the deployment of snow cutters and loaders from the early hours of the day to clear these essential routes. “Our priority has been to ensure connectivity to the main market, healthcare facilities, and other vital areas, safeguarding the convenience and safety of commuters,” an official stated.
Residents expressed relief at the department’s swift response. “The snow had severely disrupted our routines, but the prompt action by the R&B division is truly commendable,” said a local shopkeeper.
Meanwhile, the R&B Division in Ganderbal has achieved substantial progress in its snow clearance operations. Officials reported that they have successfully cleared 375.15 kilometers of roads out of the total 448.79 kilometers under their jurisdiction, ensuring 100% snow clearance of all link roads.
The operation began at dawn, with priority given to roads leading to hospitals and essential services. Multiple teams and a fleet of snow clearance machines worked tirelessly to restore connectivity.
“We are committed to ensuring accessibility across all areas. Our teams are working relentlessly to minimize disruptions for residents,” R&B officials said.
