Srinagar, Nov 12: Division of Cocoon Crop Production, College of Temperate Sericulture SKUAST-K Mirgund organized One week Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Training Programme on “Sericulture Entrepreneurship starting and scaling a Silk Farming Business” Sponsored by MSME, Govt. of India.
The programme was inaugurated on 11th of November, 2024 at Diwar, Pattan Baramulla. Thirty participants were registered for the programme. The programme was designed to enhance the skill and knowledge of participants with respect to entrepreneurship opportunities in Sericulture.
Dr Nisar Ahmad Ganie Professor and Head (Coordinator) while inaugurating the programme impressed upon all the participants to actively participate in various training sessions of the programme and try to derive maximum benefit out of the programme.
He highlighted the significance of such programmes in the backdrop of emerging challenges to silk industry. Dr. Syed Farhat Iqbal Qadri, Assistant Professor deliberated upon the aims and objectives of the programme. Dr. Masarat Bashir, Assistant Professor gave a brief presentation on avenues and opportunities in silk farming. Later on the participants had a fruitful interaction with scientists wherein a good number of queries were answered amicably. At the end Dr. Masarat Bashir Assistant Professor DCCP proposed vote of thanks.
