Baramulla, Jan 01: Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday said that in the year 2023, Baramulla Police demonstrated significant achievements in the relentless battle against the drug menace, registering 264 drug cases and apprehending 464 drug peddlers.
According to a police official, 464 drug peddlers were apprehended while 75 hard-core drug peddlers were booked under PIT NDPS Act/ PSA.
During this period, seven properties with an estimated combined value of Rs. 3 crores were attached, and seized contraband worth 34 crores was destroyed.
The police official said that the commendable performance of the Baramulla Police showcases their dedication to combating the drug trade in the region.
He said that the dedicated team of officers displayed exceptional commitment, achieving milestones in enforcing the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
“The year concluded with 264 cases filed under the NDPS Act, resulting in the arrest of 464 drug peddlers,” the police official further said.
He said that the substantial seizures of contraband worth crores in the black market were reported.
“Properties of drug peddlers, valued at Rs. 3 crores, including three houses, three vehicles, and Rs. 1.2 Crores in cash, were attached by the police.”
The police official said that the Baramulla Police destroyed significant quantities of seized contraband substances worth 34 crores under section 25A of the NDPS Act.
This operation covered various cases from Police Stations across Baramulla District at Kashmir Health Care System IGC Lassipora Pulwama.
Baramulla police said that the citizens of the district have shown unwavering faith and satisfaction in the police’s actions against drugs, expressing their total support.
“Baramulla Police remains resolute in its commitment to confronting drug smugglers and seizing both movable and immovable properties used for illicit trafficking within the district,” police added.
