Kashmir reels under intense cold wave, Srinagar records -3.5 ⁰C

Srinagar, Dec 31 : Kashmir is experiencing extremely cold weather, gripped by the intense Chillai Kalan, the hardest 40 day period of winter.

According to the Kashmir weather forecast, Srinagar recorded a temperature of – 3.5 degrees Celsius.

Tourist destination places Like pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded a temperature of -8.4⁰C and -11.5 ⁰ C.

Budgam and Ganderbal recorded temperatures of -4.4°C and -3.4°C, respectively. Meanwhile, Bandipora and Baramulla recorded temperatures of -0.6°C and -4.0°C.

The Meteorological department predicts a severe cold spell will grip the region over the next 4-8 days.

According to the Meteorological department, December 31st is expected to be cold and dry. Starting January 1st, two consecutive Western Disturbances will bring changes to J&K and surrounding areas. 1-2 Jan(Feeble WD):Light Snow at scattered places during 1st evening to 2nd morning. On 3-6 Jan(Moderate WD):Light to moderate Snow at many places.
