Awantipora, Dec 14: A series of outreach and mentorship programs, as part of the university’s efforts to promote academic growth, mentorship, and community engagement are being organized by IUST.
In order to arrest the dropouts among school going children and motivate them to pursue higher education, IUST invites and facilitates school going students to visit various facilities and interact with faculty and scholars. Among other schools, students from PM Shri C.I. Dass School, Achabal accompanied by their teachers, explored different facilities including Library, Language labs and other Laboratories including from the department of Food Technology. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Farrukh Faizan.
An alumni interaction on applying for higher studies abroad, was also organized wherein alumni Tabish Nabi (PhD student, University of Debrecen) and Sehrish Shafi (Master’s student, University of Birmingham) guided students on applying to international universities for higher education. They shared valuable insights on scholarships, application processes, and research opportunities, making the session a rich learning experience.
In another such program, an interactive session titled Demystifying NET/SET Exams: A Step-by-Step Approach to Success, provided current students with a roadmap for excelling in different competitive exams. Alumni from the 2017 and 2019 batches shared strategies and personal experiences. Organised by Alumni Coordinator Ms. Isma Hamid, the session was presided over by Dr. Munejah Khan, Head Department of English, who highlighted the importance of alumni mentorship in academic growth.
