Jammu, Dec 14: National Conference provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta on Saturday said the party is committed to youth empowerment. He criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government for its “anti-youth” policies during the past decade in Jammu and Kashmir
Gupta was addressing a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu, where several youths joined the party under the leadership of Tejinder Pal Singh Aman, District President Jammu Urban JKNC Youth, the NC said in a statement issued here.
Welcoming the new entrants, he said, “Unemployment in J&K has reached an all-time high, leaving the youth frustrated. The BJP’s decade-long rule in J&K has pushed the youth into a vicious cycle of hopelessness, with recruitment scams and widespread corruption further victimizing them.”
Highlighting the party’s legacy of prioritising youth welfare, Rattan Lal said the NC government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has launched numerous initiatives to create employment opportunities and promote skill development. “The NC government is committed to restoring the dignity and aspirations of the youth and ensuring a corruption-free system where merit is respected,” he said.
Gupta asserted that the NC government is committed to filling all vacant posts on a fast-track basis, ensuring transparency and fairness in the recruitment process. “Addressing unemployment and providing opportunities to the youth will be a top priority for the party to restore their trust and aspirations,” he said.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, provincial secretary NC, addressing the gathering, encouraged the newly joined members to work tirelessly to strengthen the party at the grassroots level. He said, “The National Conference has always stood for the rights of the youth, and it is their energy and enthusiasm that will drive the party forward.”
Tejinder Pal Singh Aman, District President Jammu Urban JKNC Youth, expressed gratitude to the Provincial leadership for supporting youth-centric initiatives and fostering an inclusive environment within the party. He assured that the youth wing would continue to strive towards strengthening the party base and addressing the pressing concerns of young people across the region.
