Srinagar, Dec 01: The Kashmir Frontier of the Border Security Force (BSF), India’s premier border guarding force, celebrated its 60th Raising Day. The force was raised on December 1, 1965, with the primary responsibility of safeguarding the International Border.
In a communique, Public Relation Officer BSF Kashmir Frontier said to commemorate this milestone, a series of events were organized across BSF deployments in the Kashmir Valley, including public outreach programs, medical camps, rallies, and cultural events. These initiatives aimed to foster greater connectivity with the local population and promote a sense of community, he said.
PRO further said that cultural program and Barakhana were organized for BSF veterans, jawans and their families. Shri Satish S. Khandare, IPS, ADG (Western Command) Chandigarh along with Ashok Yadav, IPS, IG, BSF Kashmir Frontier and other officers of the Frontier, STC and CH celebrated the occasion with Jawans and their families.
“The BSF Raising Day celebrations were marked with great enthusiasm and zeal across all ranks at the Frontier Headquarters, BSF Kashmir,” he added.
Meanwhile over the years, the BSF has established itself as an elite force, excelling in border management, counter-insurgency roles, internal law and order duties and anti-Naxal operations.
The force has consistently demonstrated its unwavering commitment to maintaining the sanctity and integrity of India’s borders and contributing towards national security.
Currently, the BSF is responsible for guarding India’s international borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh while also being deployed on internal security duties. The force boasts a unique distinction, with its own Air Wing, Water Wing, and Artillery Regiment.
