• Terrorist training at launch pads closely monitored
• Chances of infiltration ahead of winters

Srinagar, Nov 30: Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF) Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav Saturday said that security forces are on high alert along the Line of Control (LoC) and are prepared to thwart any untoward activities.
Speaking on the occasion of the BSF’s Raising Day celebrations in Srinagar, he said BSF is committed to safeguard the Line of Control (LoC) and international borders in the region. BSF along with other security agencies are dedicated and prepared to counter infiltration attempts and maintain peace in the region, he said.
“December 1, 1965, marks a significant day for us as the BSF was formed on this day. Every year, we celebrate Raising Day with the families of our frontline soldiers to reaffirm our purpose and commitment to protecting the nation,” IG BSF Yadav said.
About the challenges posed by infiltration attempts ahead of the winter season, IG Yadav said that there are chances of infiltration before the winters always to infiltrate towards our side, and we are ready to thwart such attempts.
“The months ahead of winter bring significant challenges, but our forces are fully prepared. We maintain a robust presence along the Line of Control (LoC) and are equipped to handle any threats,” he said.
IG BSF Yadav further said terrorists always try to exploit gaps in border security before harsh weather sets in. Forces dominate vulnerable gaps, and plans are in place to ensure such attempts are foiled, he said.
Regarding intelligence inputs about terrorists being trained at launch pads across the border, IG BSF Yadav said that these activities are closely monitored.
“Terrorists continue to be trained at launch pads, and they persist in attempting to infiltrate and disrupt the peaceful atmosphere here. We are confident that all such attempts will be aggressively countered,” he added.
On the changing tactics of terrorists over the past several years, IG BSF Kashmir Frontier, Yadav said that they(foreign terrorists) rely on minimal communication, creating challenges in gathering intelligence.
“Terrorists adopt their own strategies, but intelligence agencies work meticulously to analyse even the smallest inputs. This helps identify hideouts and track their movements effectively,” he said.
Commenting on the political situation in Pakistan, IG Yadav acknowledged its potential impact on the region and refrained from elaborating, stating that such assessments fall under the purview of intelligence agencies.
He further said that BSF has a comprehensive approach, is implementing a multi-layered strategy to bolster border security. This includes enhanced surveillance capabilities such as thermal imaging, night patrols, and ground sensors, all operating in coordination with Army operations to fortify defense efforts.
“The inter-agency coordination has significantly strengthened the overall security framework in the region, ensuring better preparedness against potential threats,” IG BSF Yadav added.
