Srinagar, Nov 26: Sher-e-Kashmir university of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) joined the nation in celebrating Constitution Day (Samvidhan divas), with great enthusiasm and reverence.
The event was organized to honor the adoption of the Indian Constitution on November 26,1949, and to reiterate the fundamental values enshrined in it. The celebrations commenced with the recitation of the Preamble of the Constitution, by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nazir A. Ganai and followed by deans, faculty members and students.
Dean faculty of Horticulture Prof. S.A.Wani, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Neelofar Banday, OSD Prof Azmat Alam Khan, Students Welfare Officer Dr. Seemi Lohani, NSS volunteers and administrative staff participated actively in the event, which was held at the Shalimar Campus.
In his keynote address, Prof. Nazir A. Ganai highlighted the significance in fostering democracy, unity and inclusiveness in the nation.
He encouraged the NSS volunteers to uphold the principles of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity in their professional and personal lives. Special emphasis was laid on the role of youth, particularly students of SKUAST-Kashmir, in promoting sustainable development in line with the Constitution’s objectives. An awareness rally about the constitution and the fundamental rights of Indian citizens was also organized by NSS Program officer.
