Ganderbal, Nov 19: The Kijpora Bridge in Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, a vital link on the Srinagar-Leh Highway, has been closed for traffic following a structural snag that developed last week.
The bridge was initially closed from both sides after concerns about its stability emerged, forcing authorities to divert traffic through a nearby alternative route.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway, has initiated urgent repair work to address the issue. On Tuesday, the bridge was completely closed to ensure commuter safety.
Sources confirmed that traffic will continue to be diverted until repairs are completed. Officials have assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to restore the bridge’s functionality as soon as possible.
Authorities have urged commuters to cooperate with traffic diversions and stay updated on developments.
