Srinagar, Nov 19: SKUAST-K, KVK Budgam concluded one week E-MDP on “Processing and Value Addition of Fishes” held at GDC Khansahib Budgam, sponsored by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME), GoI. The training programme aimed at equipping participants with skills and knowledge needed to enhance the value chain in the fisheries sector through modern processing techniques and value addition. The sessions covered a wide range of topics, including fish preservation techniques, processing methods, prevention of spoilage and quality control, fish based by products , packaging. Additionally a hand on demonstration on value addition of fish was also given to the participants. Dr. Bilal A. Lone, Prof and Head, KVK Budgam, stressed upon the need of community empowerment through skill development programmes sponsored by MSME and highlighted the critical role of fish processing. During the training programme exposure visits and the interactive sessions were also held.
