Srinagar, Nov 12: The Faculty of Agriculture (FoA), SKUAST-K Wadura, organized World Science Day and National Education Day on the 10th and 11th of November 2024, respectively.
The events were marked by various activities aimed at raising awareness about the significance of science in the modern world and the latest educational developments in the country. Events such as speeches, debates, and quiz competitions were held among the students.
Dean, Professor Raihana Habib Kanth, was the chief guest on both the occasions. While congratulating the organizing committee and the students for their participation, she emphasized the importance of being practical and making the most of the opportunities science offers, both in daily life and in their professional careers.
Professor Raihana Habib Kanth also stressed the need for implementing a multidisciplinary approach under the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. She advocated for staying updated on the latest developments and research in the field of agricultural science and encouraged students to read various agricultural magazines to gain in-depth knowledge about the latest trends and discussions in the field. She proudly announced that the spinning wheel of knowledge and degree by design concept of education developed by SKUAST-K has received nationwide appreciation.
Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Bhat, the Students Welfare Officer, welcomed the chief guest, faculty members, and students to the celebration of these significant days.
Hadiya (UG 2nd year), with Hafsa Suhail (UG 1st year) emerged winners in speech competition while Zaid ul Islam and Mutaeb Iftikhar were crowned as the quiz champions and Sarah Sikandar and Nisha Mashee were the runners-up.
