Srinagar, Oct 25: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir V K Bidhuri on Friday said that the much-awaited cement bridge would be completed and operational for local traffic by December.
Speaking to reporters here at Lalchowk Srinagar during review of development projects by LG Manoj Sinha, Bidhuri said that there are challenges posed by winter and macdamization operations might not be feasible but bridge would still be accessible.
“We expect it will be ready by December, and vehicles will be able to use it despite winter restrictions,” he said.
Speaking on delays in other projects, he said that the work on cement bridge had been ongoing since 2011 but gained pace only some years before and was progressing well.
He said that river transport project is significant development initiative which will enhance connectivity within the city. The project has been under planning, holds potential to ease transit across Kashmir’s waterways and boost economic growth by improving transport options for both residents and businesses.
Speaking on project progress, he said that updates would be provided soon as officials work to finalize essential aspects to ensure that river transport becomes a reliable part of the City’s infrastructure.
