Srinagar, Oct 16: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson for Jammu and Kashmir, Girdhari Lal Raina on Wednesday condemned statements made by National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah regarding the voting preferences of Jammu’s electorate.
Speaking at a district-level meeting of the Kashmir Displaced District (KDD) unit of the BJP, Raina accused the NC of engaging in “fake propaganda” to mislead the public and conceal its failure to address the needs of Jammu voters.
“Voters in Jammu have made their electoral choices with the well-being of future generations in mind,” he said, questioning, “Why Abdullah has not campaigned for allied parties in the Jammu region? NC leaders are aware of their historical neglect towards the area during their tenure.”
The former MLC added, “The NC leadership, including Dr Farooq Abdullah, knows they have ignored Jammu during their rule and are scared to face the people’s wrath.
Raina said the BJP’s criticisms of the NC stem from its exposed failures in fulfilling promises outlined in its manifesto. He challenged the NC’s positions on sensitive issues such as terrorism, secessionism and the alleged release of prisoners involved in terrorist activities. “The public deserves clarity on whom the NC aims to assist with such pleas,” he said.
The BJP spokesperson urged political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir to behave responsibly and support the “progress” ushered in by the Modi government. Raina praised BJP members for their strong performance in the recent elections and expressed optimism for even better results in the future.
