Srinagar, Mar 14: The Kashmir University (KU) Thursday announced the nomination Dr Tasleem Ahmad War, Associate Professor at the varsity’s Department of English, as the ‘Fulbright Nehru Visiting Chair Fellow’ at Emory University, Atlanta, for the academic year 2024-25 by the ‘United States India Educational Foundation (USIEF)’.
The KU community, including officers from the administration, faculty members, scholars and students have conveyed their congratulations to Dr Tasleem Ahmad on his nomination as the Fulbright Nehru Visiting Chair Fellow.
With two integral components focusing on research and teaching, Dr Tasleem will not only engage in advanced research but will also impart knowledge through a specialised course on Kashmir history and literature spanning from medieval to modern periods, the statement read.
Expressing her delight, KU Vice Chancellor, Prof Nilofer Khan, in her message, congratulated Dr Tasleem on this remarkable achievement. “Dr Tasleem’s nomination is a moment of great pride for our university. His dedication to academic excellence and scholarly pursuits exemplifies the spirit of our institution,” Prof Khan said.
Lauding Dr Tasleem’s commitment in his field, Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof Farooq Ahmad Masoodi and KU Registrar, Prof Naseer Iqbal, also extended congratulations to Dr Tasleem on behalf of the university administration.
“Dr Tasleem’s expertise and passion for Kashmir history and literature will undoubtedly enrich the academic experience of students at Emory University,” read the statement.
The ‘Visiting Chair Programme’ is designed for Indian scholars who are employed in India for the purpose of research and teaching at Emory University’s main campus in Atlanta. This fellowship is offered as part of a cost share agreement between the Halle Institute for Global Research at Emory University (Emory) and the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF).
