SRINAGAR, SEPT 23: In a bid to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process, the District Magistrate (Deputy Commissioner/District Election Officer) of Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, has issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 BNSS. This order signifies the end of the campaigning period and the commencement of the silence period prior to the elections.
Effective from 6:00 pm on September 23 until 6:00 pm on September 25, 2024, these restrictions aim to uphold the sanctity of democratic principles as polling approaches in the district. The order prohibits unlawful assemblies as per Section 189 of BNS, banning any processions or rallies to mitigate potential law and order issues.
According to the directive, no individual is allowed to convene, hold, attend, join, or address any public meeting or procession related to the elections during this period. The move is designed to maintain peace and order as voters prepare to exercise their democratic rights.
