Srinagar, Sep 21: Leader of the Opposition and Congress President Rahul Gandhi is set to arrive in Jammu and Kashmir on September 23 for a series of election campaign rallies. All preparations for the visit have been finalized, according to officials.
Senior Vice President and Chief Spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Ravinder Sharma, confirmed that Gandhi will address his first public rally in the Surankote area of Poonch at 11 am on September 23 , followed by another rally in the Shalteng constituency of Srinagar at 2 pm.
Sharma expressed optimism about the turnout, stating, “We are expecting a huge crowd at both locations. Congress workers from every corner of J&K will converge to support our candidates.”
In Surankote, Gandhi will rally support for Congress-National Conference alliance candidate Shahnawaz Choudhary. Meanwhile, in Srinagar, he will seek votes for JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra.
The campaigning period for the second phase of the Assembly election concludes on September 23, coinciding with voting in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu, as well as Srinagar, Budgam, and Ganderbal districts of Kashmir.
Earlier, on September 4, Gandhi addressed rallies in the Banihal and Dooru constituencies.
