Srinagar, Sept 20: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday updated the voter turnout figures for the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, with the final tally reaching 61.38 percent.
The assembly elections, as per the schedule, were held in 24 constituencies on September 18th for the first phase of the three-phased J&K Assembly elections.
The highest polling was recorded in the Inderwal constituency at 82.16 percent, followed by the Padder-Nagseni assembly constituency which saw 80.67 percent voting.
The lowest polling was recorded in the Tral assembly constituency at 43.56 percent, followed by the Pampore assembly segment, which recorded 45.01 percent.
In a statement on Friday, the ECI said that the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of J&K had confirmed the safe return of all polling parties.
“The voter turnout data were provided to candidates through polling agents at the polling stations, and final votes polled will be available post-counting with counting of postal ballots. Postal Ballots include Postal Ballots given to service voters, absentee voters (85+, PwD, Essential Services etc.) and Voters on Election Duty. Daily account of such Postal ballots received, as per established guidelines, are given to all candidates,” the ECI statement reads.
