Srinagar, Jan 03: In a significant community engagement initiative, the 10 Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) organized a comprehensive Civic Action Programme in Rakh-I-Arath Colony, Bay-1, Bemina, Srinagar, marking a substantial outreach effort to assist the local populace.
Led by Dr. Arun Choudhary, Assistant Commandant (Medical Officer) of the 10th Battalion SSB, in collaboration with medical professionals including Dr. Farooq of PHC Bemina, Dr. Sumaya of PHC Laloo, and Dr. Saima of MLHP under Zonal Medical Office, Batmaloo, the event facilitated health check-ups and treatment for approximately 230 individuals, including 60 men, 100 women, and 70 children.
Simultaneously, the Veterinary Civic Action (VCA) Programme overseen by Dr. Vishesh, a Veterinary Doctor, provided crucial healthcare services to nearly 55 livestock animals owned by residents in the Bemina area. Dr. Vishesh also imparted vital knowledge about common animal diseases and advised on maintaining proper guidelines for the animals’ healthy living.
Aside from medical assistance, free medicines were dispensed to both the local populace and their domestic animals. The event also focused on raising awareness about crucial societal issues such as “Beti Bachao, Beti Padao” (Save Daughters, Educate Daughters), “Mission lifestyle,” and combatting drug addiction.
R. S Rawat, Second-In-Command of the 10th Battalion SSB, expressed commitment to sustaining such initiatives in the future, emphasizing their role in enhancing the force’s positive image and fostering a sense of security among local communities. He reiterated the SSB’s ongoing dedication to the welfare of the areas they serve.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the residents of Bemina, highlighting the success of the outreach efforts and the community’s eagerness to avail themselves of the services provided.
