Srinagar, Sept 08: “Without the People’s Democratic Party’s presence, the National Conference would have continued autocratic and dictatorial rule in Jammu & Kashmir,” PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said on Sunday.
Addressing the reporters in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, she said, “If the PDP had not stood up, the National Conference would have continued its autocratic rule.”
She added, “People are frustrated and want to use the ballot to express their anger at what happened in Jammu and Kashmir over the past five years. Despite claims, leaders from the JKNC sought to form a government with the BJP in Delhi, even meeting them secretly at night.”
Mufti said that the public has recognised the positive governance established under the PDP, including the development of universities, colleges and AIIMS.
“The public of J&K has understood that PDP had established good governance in the state… universities, colleges, AIIMSs were established by PDP. If Mufti Mohammed Sayeed had not founded the PDP, then the National Conference would still be functioning in a dictatorial manner. People are upset and angry with NC,” she said.
The PDP chief continued: “You must have heard the statement of Devendra Rana sahab. The time when the BJP people from Delhi were standing at our door asking to form a government with them for three months. Who was the prominent National Conference leader to meet Amit Shah in Delhi? And asking him to form a government with them.”
