In an effort to ensure uninterrupted access to essential services and supplies during the holy month of Ramzan and upcoming Navroz celebrations, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, chaired a meeting today to assess arrangements made by various departments.
Emphasizing the availability of ration and fuel in markets, the Div Com directed officers of the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department to ensure ample quantities of essentials for fasting individuals. He also instructed for strict market monitoring to curb illegal profiteering and overcharging.
To guarantee smooth movement of fuel tankers on the national highway, the Div Com instructed officials to prioritize their passage. Additionally, he urged the Managing Director of Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to provide uninterrupted electricity during Sehri and Iftar hours, while also ensuring ample stock of power transformers across districts.
Bidhuri also stressed on the provision of clean drinking water by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department and availability of quality meat and poultry in markets.
In preparation for Navroz, the Div Com directed concerned departments to ensure essential services and items are readily available for the celebrations. Deputy Commissioners were instructed to conduct field visits to assess arrangements and ensure all necessary facilities are in place.
The meeting also addressed the progress of construction on the Sanatnagar, Nowgam, and Bemina flyovers. Bidhuri urged the Chief Engineer of Public Works Department (Roads and Buildings) to expedite these projects and ensure service roads are operational to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
Attendees included Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police, and officials from various departments including FCS&CA, KPDCL, PWD (R&W), and PHE, among others.
