Srinagar, Mar 14: The Jammu & Kashmir Power Development Department (JKPDD) has announced the withdrawal of the flat rate electricity charge system for employees residing in government quarters.
The change comes with the revocation of Government Order No. 301-GAD of 2013, which had been in place for a decade.
The new directive, Government Order No. 851-JK(GAD) of 2023, mandates the calculation of electricity charges based on actual meter readings from 15 July 2023.
The Managing Directors of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) and Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) have been instructed to implement the new order in its entirety.
The circular, dated March 14, 2024, outlines that electricity bills will be charged as per meter readings from July 15, 2023, onwards, while charges up to July 14, 2023, will be calculated on a flat rate basis.
