• Death of soldier being investigated: Army
• Jammu on high alert

Srinagar, Sept 02: A soldier was killed in an incident at the Sunjawan military camp, initially suspected to be a terrorist attack. However, the Army has denied this claim, stating that the exact cause of the soldier’s death is under investigation. Meanwhile, Jammu has been placed on high alert, officials reported.
“Initial investigations by the Indian Army suggest that the incident in which a soldier lost his life in the morning is not a terror attack. The cause of the death of the soldier is being investigated,” Defence Spokesperson Lt. Col Bartwal said.
A senior police officer at Jammu Police told Rising Kashmir that some firing shots were heard outside the base near Sunjwan Military Station, Jammu. A search operation is underway, he said.
“We have heightened security in the entire area, vehicles being checked on all major highways of Jammu district. Search Operation is underway,” he said.
The police officer said that the forces have been put on high alert, while people have been urged to share any details about suspicious movement if any.
“We have also used sniffer dogs to track the unidentified men in agricultural fields, and residential areas but nothing has been found yet,” he said.
The police officer said that due to darkness during night, security forces are facing difficulty and the operation may be halted. It will be resumed again on Tuesday, all nearby roads, paths have been closed for any movement,” he added.
Earlier on Monday, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain took stock of the district’s overall law and order situation and reviewed the readiness of the police force in Jammu.
He instructed the officers to maintain high visibility in their respective jurisdictions and ensure that security checks and patrols are intensified.
