Having begun his writing journey at the age of 13, an 18-year-old novelist and author from Ompora Budgam is emerging as one of the best-selling authors in the Kashmir valley,
Azam Zahoor Sofi is one of the young authors of Kashmir who commenced his writing career at the age of 13, when he was studying in the 9th grade.
While talking to Rising Kashmir, Azam Zahoor Sofi said that he has completed his schooling from the Kashmir Valley School in Humhama Budgam up to 10th grade. He recently finished his higher secondary education in arts from Delhi Public School, Budgam.
“I embarked on my writing journey while in the 9th grade when I was 13. I have authored four books, including ‘Era of Love’ (2022), ‘Words of a Young Writer’ (2022), ‘Treasure of Words’ (2022), and ‘Secret Behind the Words’ (2023). My latest publication, ‘Love and Tragedies,’ has also been released, and I have been honoured with the title of the youngest novelist and bestselling author for this work,” he said.
“He said I have been fortunate to receive substantial support from my family, as my parents and two siblings have offered various forms of assistance in the process of publishing my books; such achievements would not have been feasible without their support. Additionally, my friends have also extended their unwavering support throughout my publishing journey”, Sofi said.
Adding, “I have established standard pricing for all my books, ensuring that they are accessible for purchase through various online platforms, as I wish for people to engage with my work. Additionally, I serve as a publishing consultant for several publishing houses and offer comprehensive support to writers seeking to publish their works not only in Kashmir but across all states of India. Any writer from Jammu and Kashmir interested in publishing their book is encouraged to reach out to me, as I am committed to providing them with the necessary assistance.”
Azam stated that, due to some health challenges, he was unable to utilise social media platforms for several years following the publication of his books. Currently, he is actively engaging with his readers through these platforms, allowing individuals to become acquainted with his work. Additionally, he provides information to his audience via social media, further enhancing their awareness of his contributions.
Sofi stated that individuals aspiring to write their own books should persist in their writing practices. With dedication, these individuals will eventually be able to write on any topic, as writing serves as the most effective means for readers to become acquainted with an author’s work.
“Individuals seeking to have their writing published often require financial assistance, as not everyone can afford the associated costs.
