Srinagar, Aug 12: The Director of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has issued a directive to ensure proper monitoring of the Biometric Attendance System (BAS) and the JK Attendance School Education Department (JK Attendance SED) FaceApp across the Jammu division.
The move follows the reports that these systems are not adequately supervised by Chief Education Officers, Principals, Zonal Education Officers, and Headmasters.
In an official circular, the DSEJ expressed concern that the attendance portals are currently managed by teachers at the district and zonal levels, leading to insufficient oversight.
“It is alleged that the Biometric Attendance System and JK attendance SED portals are being handled by the teachers at district and zonal levels, for which there is no proper monitoring of these attendance portals,” the circular reads.
To address this, the Directorate has instructed all Chief Education Officers in the Jammu division to ensure that these portals are handed over to the senior-most officials as per the established guidelines.
The Chief Education Officers have been asked to provide a compliance report within two days, confirming that no teachers are handling the BAS and JK Attendance SED portals. They are also required to submit monthly reports to the DSEJ for continuous monitoring of school attendance.
This move aims to enhance the accountability and effectiveness of attendance tracking in schools across the Jammu division.
The Biometric Attendance System (BAS) is an essential tool in the School Education Department as it helps to ensure accurate and timely attendance records of students and teachers. The system provides a transparent and automated way to track attendance, which is crucial for maintaining academic records, evaluating student performance, and identifying areas of improvement.
With a BAS, schools can ensure accurate attendance records, reducing the risk of manual errors and fraudulent activities; monitor teacher attendance and productivity, enabling better resource allocation and management; identify absentees and take necessary action to address absenteeism issues; improve student attendance and engagement, leading to better academic performance; and enhance accountability and transparency in school administration.
The biometric attendance system plays a vital role in streamlining school operations, improving academic performance, and promoting accountability in the School Education Department.
