Srinagar, Aug 12: The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and the Department of Tourism, Jammu & Kashmir, have launched a Capacity Development Training Programme for 120 Front Line Tourism Stakeholders. The initiative aims to support the tourism cluster of J&K by enhancing the skills of tourist stakeholders, including Tourist Police Officers, Tourist Guides, Pony Wallas, ATV Drivers, and Ski Porters.
The comprehensive program includes training in Soft Skills, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Environmental Sustainability. The training is being conducted simultaneously at key destinations such as Pahalgam, Sonmarg, Gulmarg, and Srinagar, with implementation by Wyath Services Private Limited.
The program was inaugurated by S.D. Chowdhury SSP Tourism Enforcement J&K, along with Malik Waseem Ahmad – Deputy Director Tourism – Recreation, Deeba Khalid – Deputy Director Tourism – Publicity, SIDBI officials, and officials from Wyath Services Private Limited.
The program emphasizes the importance of fostering a safer and more welcoming environment for visitors. The introduction of Basic Life Support training will enhance the ability to respond effectively to emergencies, ensuring tourists’ well-being. The program aims to promote environmental sustainability and visitor safety while also contributing to the growth and development of the tourism sector in Jammu & Kashmir.
“We aim to foster a safer and more welcoming environment for visitors,” said Chowdhury. “The emphasis on Basic Life Support will enhance our ability to respond effectively to emergencies, ensuring tourists’ well-being.”
Malik Waseem Ahmad – Deputy Director Tourism – Recreation added that the program represents a significant step towards enriching the tourism experience in Jammu & Kashmir. “Our goal is to ensure that every front-line stakeholder is equipped with the skills necessary to provide exceptional service and ensure the safety and satisfaction of tourists.”
The SIDBI Representative stated that the Capacity Development Training Programme is a testament to their commitment to supporting the growth and development of the tourism sector. “By investing in the skills of our front-line staff, we are laying the groundwork for a more resilient and sustainable tourism industry.”
Saleem Lone, Director of Wyath Services Private Limited, expressed pride in partnering on this initiative, stating that it aligns perfectly with their mission to enhance service standards and promote environmental stewardship. The training will not only elevate service delivery but also empower stakeholders to make a positive impact on the region’s tourism ecosystem.
