Nowshera Forest Division addresses Human-Wildlife Conflict in Sunderbani Forest Range Workshop

The Nowshera Forest Division hosted a one-day workshop to tackle the pressing issue of human-wildlife conflict here at Sunderbani Forest Range.

The event brought together key stakeholders, including Vinod Baniyal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sunderbani, Rajesh Jasrotia, SHO Sunderbani, Dheeraj Naib Tehsildar Thanda Pani, and Dr. Rakesh Verma, Range Officer Sunderbani, alongside members of the wildlife department, PRIs and other villagers.

This collaborative effort aimed to equip attendees with the knowledge and strategies necessary to effectively address and manage human-wildlife conflicts in the region. The workshop featured insightful discussions, practical demonstrations, and the sharing of best practices.

Vinod Baniyal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sunderbani, expressed his commitment to mitigating human-wildlife conflict and protecting both the local community and the region’s diverse wildlife. He emphasized the importance of coexistence and sustainable solutions.

Rajesh Jasrotia, SHO Sunderbani, highlighted the role of law enforcement in safeguarding communities from wildlife-related risks and ensuring the peaceful cohabitation of humans and animals.

Dheeraj Naib Tehsildar Thanda Pani underscored the importance of close cooperation between different administrative bodies to develop effective conflict resolution mechanisms.

Dr. Rakesh Verma, Range Officer Sunderbani, emphasized the significance of understanding the behavior and needs of local wildlife species and shared insights on implementing preventive measures to minimize conflicts.

The workshop served as a platform for open dialogue and knowledge sharing. Attendees had the opportunity to learn from each other’s experiences and the expertise of the wildlife department. The event aimed to create a community committed to resolving human-wildlife conflicts in a humane and sustainable manner.

Satinder Mourya Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera appreciated the active participation of all stakeholders and looks forward to continued collaboration in the conservation of wildlife and the welfare of the local community.

The whole event was conducted under the direct supervision of Vivek Verma Conservator of Forests West Circle Rajouri and Satinder Mourya Divisional Forest Officer.
