Srinagar, Aug 09: The BJP Minority Front, under the leadership of National President Jamal Siddiqui on Friday paid tribute to Brigadier Mohammad Usman at the Batla House Graveyard Complex, Jamia Millia Islamia.
The tribute, offered days ahead of Independence Day, included the hoisting of the tricolour and the laying of flowers on the grave of Brigadier Usman, a martyr awarded the Mahavir Chakra for his bravery and sacrifice for the country.
The event was attended by key figures including National Vice President S.M. Akram, Dr. Aslam, Faheem Saifi, Delhi State President Anish Abbasi, Bablu Manduri, Kunwar Rafi, Firoz, and other officials and workers of the Minority Front.
Addressing the gathering, Jamal Siddiqui highlighted Brigadier Usman’s unwavering loyalty to India, saying that despite being offered the position of Pakistan’s Army Chief, he chose to serve his motherland, India. “If Brigadier Mohammad Usman Shahid had lived longer, he could have become the first Muslim Army Chief of India. His valour and courage at the young age of 36 are immortalized in Indian history,” Siddiqui said.
He called for honouring all freedom fighters, regardless of their religion or caste, for their collective struggle and supreme sacrifices that led to India’s independence. “We owe our freedom to the blood and sweat of countless freedom fighters. Today, we breathe in a free country because of their struggles,” Siddiqui remarked.
In honour of Independence Day, the BJP Minority Front, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National President JP Nadda, is launching the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from August 9 to 15. As part of the campaign, the Front will reach out to the minority community across the country, presenting them with the tricolour and encouraging them to hoist it on their homes, establishments, offices, dargahs, and madrasas on August 15.
The Morcha officials will continue to pay homage to freedom martyrs, including Brigadier Mohammad Usman and Veer Abdul Hameed, by offering flowers and hoisting the tricolour at their tombs.
On August 13, a delegation led by Jamal Siddiqui will visit the mausoleum of Bahadur Shah Zafar in Rangoon, Myanmar, to pay tribute to the last Mughal emperor. The delegation will also visit the families of martyrs in Kashmir to honour them and revisit the memories of freedom fighters by meeting their descendants.
