New Delhi, Aug 05:The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the National Communications Academy (NCA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing technical education in the fields of Telecom and Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) in India.
This significant partnership was formalized by the Member Secretary of AICTE, Prof. Rajive Kumar, and the Director General of NCA, Shri. Deb Kumar Chakrabarti, in the august presence of AICTE Chairman, Prof. T.G. Sitharam, at AICTE Headquarters in New Delhi.
The collaboration seeks to modernize the model curriculum for Diploma and Undergraduate courses, and to introduce minor degree courses in emerging fields such as 5G/6G, Quantum Communications, Telecom & Cyber Security. The goal is to align educational offerings with the latest advancements in the telecom industry.
Addressing the gathering, AICTE Chairman said, “We are excited about this strategic partnership with the National Communications Academy, which aims to revolutionize technical education in the telecom and ICT fields. By introducing minor degree courses in emerging technologies like 5G/6G, Quantum Communications, and Cyber Security, we intend to ensure a greater reach and accessibility of these cutting-edge subjects to a wider student base. Our goal is a result-oriented collaboration that not only updates our curriculum but also prepares our students to meet the current and future demands of the industry.”

Key Areas of Collaboration:
1. Curriculum Development: AICTE and NCA will collaborate to update the model curriculum for Minor Degree, Diploma and UG technical courses in the fields of telecom and ICT.
2. Integration of Emerging Technologies: The partnership aims to integrate emerging technologies aligned with the Bharat 6G vision into the educational curricula of technical institutions.
3. Educational Materials Development: AICTE will facilitate the creation of relevant educational materials related to 5G/6G, Quantum Communications, Telecom & Cyber Security, and other emerging technologies. These materials will be made available on AICTE’s SWAYAM platform.
4. Faculty Training: NCA, in collaboration with AICTE, will conduct training sessions on these emerging technologies for faculty members from AICTE-approved institutions.
5. Knowledge Sharing and Research Promotion: NCA will organize workshops, webinars, and advanced research seminars in Communication Engineering for faculty, researchers, and students. These events will provide platforms for presenting research, engaging in scientific discussions, and fostering collaboration.
6. Internship Opportunities and Infrastructure Access: NCA will explore internship opportunities for engineering students and provide access to its infrastructure for hands-on training in its labs and other resources.
Prof. Rajive Kumar, Member Secretary AICTE, stated “This partnership marks a significant step towards enhancing the quality of technical education in India, aligning it with the needs of the industry, and preparing students for future technological advancements.”
“NCA will conduct training sessions on these technologies for faculty members from AICTE-approved institutions. We will provide our training resources on the iGoT platform for AICTE-approved institutions. Additionally, we will explore internship opportunities for engineering students in these technologies”, said DG, NCA, Shri. Deb Chakrabarti.
