SRINAGAR, July 20: The Public Health Engineer (PHE) Division in Srinagar has issued an appeal to the residents of Srinagar district to refrain from misusing water by using it in lawns, kitchen-gardens, and for washing vehicles due to a shortage of water supply in certain parts of Srinagar City, particularly in the tail end areas.

Anbreen Anjum, Executive Engineer of the Water Works Division Srinagar told Rising Kashmir that the rise in temperature across the Kashmir Valley has led to a significant increase in water consumption, resulting in a shortage of water supply in some parts of Srinagar City, especially in the tail end areas.

“The residents of Srinagar are urged to use drinking water wisely and avoid its misuse in lawns, kitchen-gardens, and for washing vehicles,Anjum said.

She said that consumers using direct online boosters are requested to discontinue this practice immediately to ensure fair distribution of water supply in their respective areas. Such actions are considered an offense under the Jammu & Kashmir Water Resources Regulation and Management Act 2010, and the department will be compelled to take action against violators.

“For any complaints or concerns regarding water supply shortages, the general public can reach out to the PHE Provincial Control Room, which operates 24×7 to assist the public,” she added.

Anjum further said that Nodal Officers have been designated to address legitimate grievances related to water supply and will be available to assist the general public.
