Srinagar, July 13: The government has devised a comprehensive strategy to bolster security and safeguard the Jammu division in response to the recent shift of terrorist activities towards the region.
Addressing the reporters, Union minister Dr Jitendra Singh said the army has been strategically deployed in remote areas of Jammu to counter the threat. He emphasised the significance of this new approach, saying, “With terrorists now targeting Jammu, it was imperative to adapt our strategy. The deployment of the Army in remote regions is a crucial step towards ensuring the safety and security of our citizens.”
Dr Jitendra highlighted the revival and enhancement of Village Defence Groups (VDGs), which have been restructured to operate more effectively. “The VDGs are being revived in a much better way, equipped with the necessary resources and training to respond swiftly to any threats,” he said.
The revamped strategy aims to create a robust security framework, combining the strengths of the army and local defence groups to provide a comprehensive response to terrorism in the region, he said.
The Union Minister reassured the public that the government is committed to maintaining peace and stability in Jammu. “The safety of the citizens remains the top priority,” he said.
