Srinagar, Nov 09: Senior IPS officer Vidhi Kumar Birdi assumed the charge of Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone on Thursday.
Birdi, is a 2003 batch IPS officer with a distinguished career spanning various roles within J&K Police.
IPS Birdi’s extensive career includes diverse roles even during his central deputation. Having a Bachelor of Engineering and an MBA, this exceptional IPS officer was prematurely repatriated to J&K at the state government’s request, having served as IG CRPF Jharkhand Sector.
After joining J&K Police in 2003, Birdi has held key positions in valley such as SDPO Kothibagh Srinagar, SP City East Srinagar, SSP Kupwara, SSP Special Security Group J&K, DIG North Kashmir Range (NKR) Baramulla, and DIG CKR Srinagar.
His central deputation showcased his versatility, serving as SP CBI, DIG CBI, DIG NIA, and IG CRPF Odisha Sector. Recognition followed with awards like the DGP J&K Commendation Medal, J&K PMG, PMG 3rd Bar, DG CRPF Commendation Disc, and PPMG, reflecting his exemplary service both in J&K and at the national level.
After assuming the charge, IGP chaired an interactive meeting with DIG ranges and District SP’s .
The meeting was attended by district and range heads of Kashmir Zone who were directed to focus on quality investigation in terror crimes and narco-terror related cases to dismantle the terror ecosystem.
IGP Kashmir stressed upon the officers to ensure the improvement in overall working of Policing at Police Station and sub-divisional level with refinement in record building and investigation.
He stressed upon the officers to make good public relations and focus on people sensitive policing.
“Addressing public grievances should be the top most priority of valley police besides their operational and crime related commitments,” IGP said.
He stressed upon transparent and efficient policing in coordination with all sister agencies in the valley.
