Samba, June 27: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu and former minister, S. Manjit Singh on Thursday pitched for promoting rural sports in Jammu and Kashmir to fight against the drug addiction menace.
“Drug addiction has consumed the future generation and has given rise to multiple criminal activities and created problems in the society,” Singh said at village Pakhdi here. He distributed sports and cricket kits among the youth in the village.
In his address, the former minister appreciated the youth for showing their interest in sports activities and hoped that the youth would come forward to join the movement against drug addiction. “There is a need to promote sports among the youth in rural areas who have been neglected till date, and no infrastructure has been developed for them,” he added.
The Apni Party leader insisted on the need to develop the infrastructure in every panchayat and village in Jammu and Kashmir and accordingly, appoint coaches in these mini stadiums by providing them all the facilities, and required sports equipment.
“The youth should be guided towards the right path. The civil society, family members, and the police shall work unitedly to bring the youth towards the right track so that the menace of drugs can be controlled,” he stated.
Manjit further said that if the Apni Party forms the next government in Jammu and Kashmir, it would sport infrastructural development and mini-stadiums at the panchayat and village levels.
