Srinagar, June 24: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl from Pattan in Baramulla district was allegedly gang-raped by three men.
The police have arrested the accused under the POCSO Act.
Following the filing of a missing report, the police launched a manhunt to locate the minor girl. She was eventually found to have been abducted by three individuals, taken to a rented accommodation in Srinagar, and assaulted there.
An FIR numbered 219 of 2024 was registered at the Pattan police station under Section 363 (kidnapping), and further investigation was set up.
According to the police, after the report of the missing girl was received, a search operation was initiated. The girl was found the next day, and during questioning, she revealed that she had been raped by three men.
After recording the girl’s statement, the police immediately arrested the three suspects and launched an in-depth investigation. The suspects allegedly took the girl to a rented accommodation in Srinagar, where the crime occurred. The police have also confiscated the vehicle used in the abduction.
Initially, the case was registered only under Section 363 (kidnapping). However, following the girl’s statement, additional charges, including gang rape under Sections 376 A and D, as well as the POCSO Act, were added against the accused.
Residents of the area are demanding stringent action against those involved in this heinous crime. The police have assured the public of a thorough investigation to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
