Vows affordable healthcare and healthy society
Srinagar, June 13: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired the Governing Body Meeting of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) at the Civil Secretariat on Thursday. This was the first meeting following the reconstitution of the Governing Body of SKIMS, Soura, Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by Rajeev RaiBhatnagar, Advisor to the Lt Governor; AtalDulloo, Chief Secretary; Santosh D Vaidya, Principal Secretary, Finance Department; Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lt Governor; Dr M Srinivas, Director AIIMS New Delhi; Dr Rajiv Bahl, Director General ICMR; SanjeevVerma, Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department; Dr Syed AbidRasheed Shah, Secretary, Health, along with other members.
Extensive deliberations were held on key aspects of patient-care services, resulting in in-principle approvals for various agenda items aimed at enhancing the overall functioning of the esteemed healthcare institution.
Lt Governor Sinha emphasized the need for systemic interventions to ensure quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare services. “It must be ensured that all necessary medical equipment is procured and functioning properly,” he asserted.
“We must focus on a people-centred approach for the accessible, equitable, and efficient delivery of healthcare services. We are committed to affordable access to public healthcare and to building a healthy society,” the Lt Governor further added.
Members of the Governing Body shared valuable suggestions and inputs regarding the augmentation of healthcare facilities at SKIMS, contributing to the strategic direction of the institution.
