Kulgam, Nov 24: In a relentless crackdown on traffic violations, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) in Kulgam suspended 40 driving licenses, 37 route permits, and 18 registration certificates (RC) within the past month.
An official said that during the enforcement efforts, three lakh rupees in compound fines were also collected from violators.
According to Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Kulgam, Abrar Ahmad Kripak, said that no passenger or commercial vehicle plying without legal documents will be spared. “There is a convergence of multiple departments—police, traffic police, and Motor Vehicle Department (MVD)—and cooperation and action are important in implementing these orders,” he said.
He said that the MVD’s guidelines are clear: any vehicle plying without documents or violating traffic regulations will face action.
“We have taken action and suspended around 40 driving licenses, 37 route permits, and 18 registration certificates (RC) within the past month,” he said.
He further added that the imposition of compound fines served as a clear warning to offenders, emphasizing the significance of adhering to traffic norms and regulations to ensure compliance with the traffic rules.
