36th Reasi District Volleyball Championship kicks off at Katra Sports Stadium

Katra, Dec 05: The 36th Reasi District Volleyball Championship, organized by the Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir (VAJK) in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), commenced on Thursday at the Sports Stadium, Katra.
The two-day championship, held under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council, features eight teams from far-flung areas of the district, including Pouni, Aggar Jitto, Reasi, Mahore, Bakkal, Bhomag, Judda, and Katra, vying for the coveted title.
The event was inaugurated by Sanjeev Kotwal, Nodal Officer of SMVDSB, who appreciated the organizers for choosing Katra’s Sports Complex as the venue and assured full support for the championship’s success.
Kuldip Magotra, Chief Executive Officer of VAJK, announced that the championship will serve as a platform to shortlist the Reasi District Volleyball Team for the upcoming 36th J&K UT Volleyball Championship scheduled at M.A. Stadium, Jammu, from December 13 to 15, 2024.
Addressing the players, VAJK Senior Vice President Raj Guru emphasized the significance of sports in fostering mental and physical fitness among youth. General Secretary VAJK, Vijay Magotra, highlighted the rising menace of drug abuse, urging young participants to steer clear of such social evils for a healthier and stronger nation.
The inaugural matches witnessed enthusiastic participation and spirited performances:
Katra Volleyball Club defeated Asghar Jitto Volleyball Club in straight sets (25-08, 25-07).
Reasi Eagle Volleyball Club edged out Pouni Volleyball Club in a thrilling match (25-23, 28-30, 15-11).
Mahore Lions Volleyball Club beat Bakkal Volleyball Club (25-11, 25-27, 15-06).
Judda Volleyball Club (JVC) triumphed over Veer Volleyball Club, Bhima (25-14, 18-25, 15-11).
Semi-Final Results:
Reasi Eagle Volleyball Club outplayed Katra Volleyball Club (25-20, 21-25, 15-11).
Mahore Lions Volleyball Club defeated Judda Volleyball Club (25-15, 25-14).
A large crowd, including volleyball enthusiasts, attended the matches, cheering for their favorite teams. The matches were officiated by a panel of referees, including Kuldeep Kumar, Amit Jamwal, Vinod Kumar, Jagdish Kumar, and Rakesh Sharma.
