35th JKUT Senior Volleyball Championship for Men; teams advance to semifinals

Kupwara, Sep 29: The 2nd day of the 35th JKUT Senior Volleyball Championship for Men, organized by the Kupwara District Volleyball Association in collaboration with the Volleyball Association of J&K and the J&K Sports Council, saw intense competition and exciting matches at the Maidan Chogul Handwara Kupwara. The event was conducted under the aegis of the Volleyball Association of J&K.
Today, participating teams had the honor of interacting with the esteemed guest, Jagir Singh Randhawa, an International Volleyball player and coach of the Indian team. The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Kuldip Magotra (CEO), Abdul Ahad Shah (Vice President), Mohd Tariq (Joint Secretary), Akbar Ali (Office Secretary) of the Volleyball Association of J&K, and Muneer Alam (Srinagar District Secretary), Nilofar Habib (Kugam District Secretary), and Javid Uri (Baramulla District Secretary).
The championship organizers left no stone unturned in ensuring the comfort of over 400 players and officials by arranging boarding and lodging facilities. The technical panel, consisting of Sr. Amarjit Singh, Neeraj Sharma, Dk Raina, Intizar Ali, Mohd. Shabir, Sidharth Hussain, Wasim Akram, Modh Ikhlaq, Mohd. Ayaz, Amit Sharma, Manik Nagotra, Mulkhraj, and Mohd. Iliyas, ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
A total of 23 matches were played today, including four thrilling quarter-finals. The teams that advanced to the semi-finals are Jammu District, Anantnag District, JKP, and Budgam. Tomorrow’s semi-final matchups are as follows: Jammu vs. Budgam and JKP vs. Anantnag.
Results of today’s matches are as follows:
Kathua beat Bandipora by 2-1 (22-25, 25-20, 15-13), Budgam beat Shopian by 2-1 (25-20, 23-25, 15-13), Ganderbal beat Samba by 2-0 (25-15, 25-5), Jammu beat Rajouri by 2-0 (25-18, 25-20), JKP beat Kulgam by 2-0 (25-14, 25-18), Kathua beat Kishtwar by 2-0 (25-11, 25-18), Anantnag beat Udhampur by 2-0 (25-12, 25-13), Baramulla beat Kulgam by 2-0 (25-17, 25-23), Poonch beat Kishtwar by 2-0 (25-22, 25-16), Udhampur beat Samba by 2-0 (26-24, 25-20), Reasi beat Doda by 2-0 (25-22, 25-19), Kulgam beat Kupwara by 2-0 (25-10, 25-16), Bandipora beat Kishtwar by 2-1 (23-25, 25-12, 15-7), Pulwama beat Udhampur by 2-0 (25-18, 25-12), Rajouri beat Doda by 2-1 (25-20, 17-25, 15-10), Jammu beat Reasi by 2-0 (25-19, 25-15), Kulgam beat Ramban by 2-1 (19-25, 25-13, 15-9), Srinagar beat Kishtwar by 2-0 (25-17, 25-16), Ganderbal beat Udhampur by 2-0 (25-17, 25-19)
Quarter-final matches results:
Jammu beat Kathua by 2-0 (25-21, 25-19), JKP beat Ganderbal by 2-0 (25-16, 25-16), Budgam beat Srinagar by 2-0 (25-17, 25-23), Anantnag beat Baramulla by 2-0 (25-20, 25-20)
