Jammu, Dec 1: Three members of a family died after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Jammu’s Kathua district on Wednesday night, police said.
They said five members of a family from Jammu’s RS Pura Tehsil were travelling in a car (JK02CX-5600) when the driver lost control and the vehicle plunged into 300-feet-deep Sewa Nallah in Mangiar near Bani, resulting in the death of two persons on the spot and injuries to others.
The injured were taken to a local hospital by police and locals where one of them succumbed to his injuries. The other injured were referred to Government Medical College Kathua for advanced treatment, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Sheikhar Gupta (45) son of Ram Lal, Siddharth Gupta (11) son of Sanjay Gupta and Monika Gupta (40) wife of Sanjay Gupta while the injured have been identified as Parbhat Gupta (18) son of Pawan Gupta and Rubi Gupta (40) wife of Rajesh Gupta, all residents of RS Pura, Jammu.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and taken up further investigations.
