Kulgam, Aug 17: With the announcement of the assembly elections, preparations are in full swing in Kulgam to ensure the smooth conduct of polls.
District Election Officer (DEO) Athar Aamir Khan on Saturday said that a 24×7 control room has been established and the helpline 1950 has been activated to assist in this effort.
DEO Khan said that Kulgam being part of the first phase is undergoing extensive preparations.
He said that training sessions were held for all nodal officers, Returning Officers (ROs), and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) to ensure the proper execution of election procedures such as nomination, scrutiny, symbol allotment, postal ballots, and polling booth arrangements.
DEO said that with the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect. Within 24 hours, all government offices and buildings were to be cleared of political posters and banners. The district is closely monitoring compliance with these regulations.
He said that their team is committed to conducting the elections in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
“We are very pleased with the overwhelming appreciation we received from the public and all political parties during the Parliamentary Elections. It was an incredible recognition of our efforts. We are committed to ensuring that this time as well, the elections will be conducted smoothly and in strict adherence to the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India,” he added.
