Srinagar, Jan 09: Twenty students from the first villages (border areas or far-flung areas) from Jammu and Kashmir Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory are going to participate in the Student Science Village Programme, which is going to be held in Faridabad, Haryana, from January 17th to 20th under the India International Science Festival (IISF).
The India International Science Festival (IISF) is a collaborative endeavour between the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Earth Sciences, the Department of Space, and the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of Haryana, in partnership with Vijnana harati.
The supporting agencies for this festival are the Defence Research and Development Organisation of India, the India Council of Agricultural Research, the Ministry of Rural Development of India, the Ministry of Ayush, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Ministry of New Renewable Energy of India, the All India Council for Technical Education, the India Council of Medical Research, and Nature Protects if she is protected.
The coordination and implementation agency for this festival is the National Innovative Foundation (NIF) in New Delhi.
Dr. Sajad Ahmad Mir, Nodal Officer from J&K for the student science village programme, told Rising Kashmir that the 20 students from the first villages, commonly known as border areas or far-flung areas from both divisions of Jammu and Kashmir, are going to participate in the student science village programme, which is going to be held in Faridabad, Haryana, from January 17th to 20th under the India International Science Festival (IISF).
“The students from 8th to 11th grade are going to participate in this event. All the expenses, including air tickets, have been provided by the government of India,” Mir said.
He said that the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2023 is going to conduct various kinds of events. However, the Student Science Village Programme is one of the events in which these 20 students from Jammu and Kashmir are also going to participate.
“This is a good opportunity for the students to participate in this event. The students are going to participate with top Indian scientists, innovators, and students from other Indian states. The students will also receive knowledge regarding science, technology, and innovation fields. Where they can express their thoughts and innovative ideas,” Sajad said.
Mir said that the aim of this programme is to engage the public with science, celebrate the joy of science, and show the ways in which science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) provide us with solutions to improve our lives.
“Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Science and Technology, Kiren Rijiju Minister of Earth Science, and Manohar Lal Khattar Chief Minister of Haryana are the chief patrons of this event,” he informed.
Mir said that this is a science festival where young budding youths from other states are getting the opportunity to understand the world of science and technology through this programme. The theme of “Science and Technology Public Outreach in Amrit Kaal” and the aim of “Science for All.”.
Adding to that, this initiative aims to instill scientific temperaments, creativity, and innovation in the younger generation, encouraging them to pursue careers in STEM.
