Taking strong note of complaints of overpricing of Chicken sold in markets, the District Administration Pulwama on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudhary has launched a massive inspection drive/ crackdown to curb overpricing and take immediate action against instances of violations.

Following the directions, the Assistant Director FCS&CA Department Pulwama along with the Enforcement squad of the District launched a massive crackdown against Poultry dealers and retailers (Chicken) for resorting to overpricing and not adhering to the rates prescribed by the Department.

During the intensive drive, the constituted teams inspected more than 100 establishments across the district and sealed 18 of them for violating the norms, and also realized a fine of Rs. 25000 in the last two days.

The DC has directed all executive magistrates of the district to ensure daily inspections of all fresh food markets/ chicken falling within their respective jurisdictions and take strict action against those indulging in overpricing.

Speaking about the issues of overpricing, the DC said that the Administration has a zero tolerance policy towards those resorting to over-pricing. He said that such drives will continue on a regular basis across all district markets to keep a check on traders and shopkeepers for indulging in overcharging and other unethical activities.

Assistant Director FCS&CA said that those violating the rates fixed by the department will not be spared.

Further, he asked the general public to cooperate with the Department so that the Government fixed rates are enforced and the menace of overpricing is curbed in the district. He also asked the public to register their complaints on toll free number 18001807011.
