Srinagar, May 03: At Srinagar International Airport on Wednesday, dozens of passengers vented their frustration at a private airline for failing to notify them of the cancellation of their flights, leaving them stranded.
On Wednesday, 11 flights at Srinagar Airport were cancelled and the private airline operator (Go-Air) planes were grounded for the second consecutive day due to operational issues.
Passengers claimed that private aircraft operators had failed to notify them in advance of flight cancellations.
Eleven Go-Air flights scheduled for Wednesday were cancelled by the airline due to operational issues, according to Altaf Matoo, a data operator at Srinagar Airport.
The activities of Go-Air would once again be impacted on Thursday and Friday, he said.
Amit Mishra, a passenger from Mumbai, was astonished to discover that his airline was not operating at the airport as he was ready to travel back home.
“I need to get to Mumbai so that I can attend my son’s wedding ceremony,” he said, adding, that the private airline Go-Airline did not make an effort to notify or send any SMSes in advance on the suspension of their operations.
Mishra said the other private airlines companies have also raised their flight prices and intend to take advantage of the average person.” I reserved a flight for Rs 13,000 four days ago, but other airlines are now offering the same ticket for Rs 20,000 ,” he claimed.
Susheel Singh, a native from New Delhi who had travelled to Kashmir, claimed that they learned about the cancellation of Go-Air operations on Wednesday morning.
“Now I am planning to stay here for two more days so that I can get my refund or ticket from the same airline,” he said, adding that there was no advance information about the matter.
A communique from Go-Air spokesman said that they regret to inform that due to operational reasons, Go First flights scheduled for 3rd, 4th and 5th May 2023 have been cancelled.
“We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the flight cancellations. A full refund will be issued to the original mode of payment shortly,” he said.
The spokesman said they acknowledge the flight cancellations might have disrupted your travel plans and we are committed to providing all the assistance we can
