Training programme on ‘Farm Management Decisions for Rural Youth’ concludes at KVK Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Dec 24: KVK Ganderbal concluded the six days Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) on Decisions in Farm Management: Resource Allocation and Profitability from 17-22 December, 2022, in which 28 rural youth of the district Ganderbal participated. 
 
The concluding session of the programme was presided by Dr. IshfaqAbidi, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Ganderbal. During his address, Dr Abidi signified the importance of skill training programmes for rural youth and emphasized on the need of imparting skill for efficient management of farm resources for getting better returns.
 
The training programme was divided into theory and practical sessions under different themes comprising of farm management viz., farm decisions, farm planning and budgeting, profitable vermicomposting, mushroom farming, poultry farming, sheep farming, rice and maize farming, among others. Dr Eajaz Ahmad Dar, Coordinator of the training programme delivered several lectures and practical demonstrations for developing skills of farm planning and decision making for a profitable business. Ten resource persons from different faculties of the university were invited to impart skills among the rural youth based on varied enterprises. 
The trainees were given live demonstrations in various field, laboratory innovative centers and different demonstration units of KVK Ganderbal and Faculty of Veterinary Sciences viz., Mushroom unit, Apiary unit, Poultry unit, Dairy, Sheep farm, Rabbit farm and vermicompost demonstration units, fruit nursery demonstration units etc. 
 
A feedback session with the rural youth was also organized in which the youth appreciated the efforts of KVK Ganderbal for imparting skill through such training programmes.  The youth showed interest to start their own farm business and were eager to learn and implement new technologies for the profitable farm business.
