Jammu, Sep 26: Department of Music GLDM GDC Hiranagar organised 16th online lecture under the series named ‘Manthan.’ Manthan is an online lecture series from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari organised under the aegis of Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav @75. 
The lecture was on the topic “The Evolution of Natya -Sangeet as an application of Hindustani Classical Music”. The Chief Guest of the programme was Dr. Pragya Khanna Principal of the College who is highly appreciative of the idea of the series of lectures pertaining to music every week. 
The resource person for the lecture Prof. Aditya Mohan Khandwe who hailed from Maharashtra is a well-known scholar, artist and an Assistant Professor at Lala Lajpatrai Institute of Management Mumbai. He is the National Awardee of Sangeet Natak Academy, an autonomous body of Ministry of Culture Govt. of India. He has performed in many prestigious festivals in India and abroad. He in his lecture described in detail the evolution of Natya Sangeet from beginning to the present time. He divided Natya sangeet in three times; that is the time of Master Dinanath Mangeshkar, Bal Gandharva and Jitendra Abhisheki respectively. He also presented few NatyaGeet of Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Bal Gandharva and Jitendra Abhisheki.     
Earlier the programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Bharat Bhushan Head, Department of Music. Dr Bharat Bhushan again reiterated the project of the compilation of all the proceedings and articles from all the lectures into a book. Such will be a contribution to the knowledge and literature in the field of music which would further strengthen the institution at large. The project is encouraged and inspired by the worthy Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna.
The webinar was attended by the students, teachers and music lovers from across the nation. Many participants discussed and shared their views about the series. Those who attended the lecture were Prof. Anupama Sharma, Prof. Renu Sehgal from GCW Gandhi Nagar College, Dr. Surendra Nath Soren from Delhi University, Dr. Sanjay Kalotra, from GCW Udhampur College, Dr.Nishtha Sharma and Surinder Kour from Govt. MAM College, Jammu, Prof. Sujat Khan, Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Dr. Davinder Kour, Prof. Manjot Singh, Prof. Neha Bhagat, Dr. Arun Kumar, Mr. Vikram Jamwal, Dr. Mukesh Kumar and Dr. Ravinder Singh. At the end of the lecture Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Head, Department of Music of the college presented the formal vote of thanks. The programme was organised together with Department of Sociology and the Department of Physical Education and Sports in consultation and support of Prof. (Dr.) Pragya Khanna, Principal of the college.
