Srinagar, Dec 19: To curb power theft across Kashmir, the Kashmir Power Distribution Limited Corporation has formed special teams in all sub-divisions of Kashmir.
A senior official of the corporation told Rising Kashmir that this special task force team has accelerated their operations across the region to avoid load shedding.
He said every day the demand and supply are increasing due to the usage of unnecessary electric gadgets, and consumers in the city and elsewhere are witnessing unscheduled power cuts.
He stated that this year, the department is working tirelessly to provide electricity as per schedule, adding that the department needs cooperation from consumers.
"People are using crude heating gadgets that are causing load shedding, resulting in people complaining of unscheduled power cuts." Every year the load is increasing, and the department is also increasing its infrastructure to provide better electricity facilities to people," the officer added.
The department has strictly directed the officials to take strict action against those who are using crude heating gadgets.
The department has constituted special teams, who, according to officials, are carrying out the searches during late nights as well.
Meanwhile, reports of prolonged power cuts are pouring in from several parts of the city and elsewhere.
People complained that every winter, the PDD department promises that power curtailments will be improved in the future, but it does nothing to improve the situation until the next winter arrives.
